Early Life
Lorraine Vita Armata was born on January 15, 1936, in Boston, Massachusetts. She was the second child of William Peter Armata and Mary Gulinello. She was raised in Natik Massachusetts, with her three siblings, Billy, Anna, and Tommy.
Life was tough for the Armata family in the early years, but they always had one another. The Armata's were a close niche family, especially the siblings.
Marriages
Lorraine was married three times where she had six children with her first husband, Joseph Salvador Carcerano.
Shortly after getting married, Lorraine moved her family to Torrance, California. A few years later, Joseph and Lorraine moved again this time to Huntington Beach, CA.
Lorraine and her kids had fond memories at the Cheryl Drive home (Lorraine's favorite home). Like all families, overtime they get bigger. The Carcerano's were no exception.
Family Life
Lorraine had six children in a span of 8 years (a modern day record), Rhonda, Greg, Roxanne, Rebecca, Chris (widely known as her favorite), and Jonathan (aka Babe).
Lorraine loved her family and especially her six children. There was nothing more important to her then her family.
The Cheryl Drive home was just too small for the 8 of them. It was time for the Carcerano's to move. In September 1971, they moved to a beautiful 5 bedroom model home (with a pool) on Crista Palma Drive.
Everyone was full of joy and happiness.
The Opera Singer
Lorraine was a very talented woman. One of her many talents was her ability to sign Opera. From an early age, Lorraine loved music and decided she wanted to be an Opera singer. Through the years, Lorraine showed off her signing talent at Church, Weddings, Restaurants, and other special events.
Cooking
Like all traditional Italian woman, family and food is part of their fabric and sole. Lorraine enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Everything had to be made from scratched using only authentic Italian cheeses, pasta, seasoning, and you name it, everything was 100% Italian.
Christmas dinner was a special treat for all of us. Whether it was lasagna, ravioli, spaghetti, or any other Italian pasta dish, she made it with tender loving care. It took days to prepare the meals and all sauces (aka gravy) and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Dinner was usually mid-afternoon and eating wouldn’t stop until late into the evening.
Of course, no Italian meal wouldn’t be complete without dessert. Lorraine’s favorite dessert was freshly made Cannoli. This Italian pastry originally came from Sicily and was easily adapted by the Armata/Carcerano family.
Cards and Poker
In her downtime, Lorraine enjoyed playing cards and poker. After a festive meal, it was common for Lorraine and the family to sit down and play a “friendly” game of cards.
